From lively area to quiet seclusion and from good value to five-star, there’s a couple of good hotel deals to share with you.
Ohana Waikiki Islander (Oahu)
It’s not often you can find a decent hotel in Hawaii for under $100, but the Ohana Waikiki Islander is offering a deal of $99 per night plus tax. This offer is valid through March 31, 2008. The hotel is well located in the Waikiki area. It’s right beside the new Waikiki Beach Walk. This deal is called a “renovation special”. The hotel is being spruced up, plus the Waikiki Beach Walk is growing with new restaurants and shops. To see what recent guests have to say about their stay with Ohana Waikiki Islander, see these TripAdvisor reviews.
Hana Hotel (Maui)
The secluded Hana Hotel has a couple of fall and winter deals. Book a room in one of their two most popular room categories and enjoy daily full American breakfast for two. You can save up to $170 per night. The Bay Cottage Junior Suites are $395 per night plus tax and the Ocean View Sea Ranch Cottage rooms are $495 per night plus tax. In addition, you can take advantage of their upgrade special between November 1st and December 22nd. US Airways has announced some great fares to Hawaii from all across the US Mainland. One way fares are as low as $182. It seems like the East Coast folks have been snubbed with some of the recent fare deals, but this sale includes East coast departures as well. For example, the Charlotte (CLT) to Honolulu (HNL) flight is $278 one way. For details and restrictions, click here.
Don’t forget that Kauai hotels are also on sale this fall and there are big deals for the Big Island. If you’re dreaming of that perfect Hawaii vacation, this fall is a great time to save money.

Their announcement says that the sale is valid for travel between August 22nd through September 8th, but I received an e-mail from the company saying, “but we can extend it a bit longer for your audience until September 30th.” Thanks Destination Villas for extending the sale to Go Visit Hawaii readers! [Note: I just wanted to make it clear that I don't receive any commission or compensation from Destination Villas. I'm simply passing along the deals as and when I see them.]

File this post in the “I told you so” category. :-) I found an article at Scripps News about a couple that had a great Maui vacation on a $1,500 budget. So, how did they do it? The main reason they were able to keep to a limited budget is that they
- stayed in a condo rather than a hotel
- made some of their meals in their condo
- planned most of their own sight seeing and cultural activities, but mixed in some paid tours as well
It is really a great article that offers quite a few ideas that may help you with your Maui vacation plans. I had to smile when I read the article, because it was issued the day after my post on a luxury vacation in Hawaii for less. The article could actually be a case study of the advice I offered. O.K. time to come back down to earth. I hope you’ll forgive me for my moment of gloating.
