King Kamehameha Day is celebrated as a statewide holiday in the Hawaiian Islands on June 11th. This revered king was the first to unite the islands of Hawaii in the late 1700s. He named his kingdom, the Kingdom of Hawaii, after his home island, Hawaii, the Big Island.
If you are visiting Hawaii on King Kamehameha Day, you might find parades as well as gatherings for lei presentations at statues of the king. Check our June guide to a Hawaii vacation for a listing of King Kamehameha Day events.
