imageThe Hawaii Entertainment Book is a book of coupons for restaurants, luaus, golf, shopping and more. The 2008 books are currently on sale at $15 which is a $10 savings, plus shipping is free.

I noticed that the book has several 25% discount coupons for luaus. The coupons aren’t for “no name” luaus either. In Oahu, for example I see 25% coupons for two very popular luaus, Paradise Cove and Germaine’s. The book could very quickly pay for itself on a luau coupon alone.

Here’s a secret hint I recently picked up - you can get a free trial with three free coupons. So, a few days before you go on your vacation, go get the free trial. You’ll need to enter the zip code of your destination to get started.

Have you used the Hawaii Entertainment Books on your vacation? Did you think it was worth the price? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Free Entertainment on the Big Island

IMGP1430

If a Big Island luau doesn’t fit in your vacation budget, but you’d still like to hear live Hawaiian music or see a hula dance, then you’re in luck.  You can find some good free shows on the island.  Here’s where to find the some of the good free stuff:

  • The Shops at Mauna Lani offers free shows every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings.  You can learn more about the various shows and times here
  • The Kings Shops in Waikoloa have free evening shows Monday through Saturday.
  • The Queens Marketplace in Waikoloa have several free or low cost Hawaiian craft making classes as well as free traditional Hawaiian entertainment.  See this link for their listings
  • Many hotels offer free live music, usually in their lounge area. So ask your hotel what free entertainment they offer.

Here’s a short video sample of the type of free entertainment you might find.  This video was filmed at the Kings Shops stage in Waikoloa.

If you are looking for other budget-minded things to do on the Big Island, then don’t miss our suggestions for the best Big Island budget activities.

Hawaii Travel Deals

Just wanted to share some recent deals that caught my eye.

Prince Winter Escape Promotion (Maui, Oahu, Big Island)
Hawaii’s high season is in the winter, so it’s great to see a special winter promotion coming available.  Prince Resorts Hawaii is offering their “Winter Escape” for their hotels on Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island.  The offer includes discounted rates and a $100 resort credit.  This offer is valid from January 4th - March 31st.  You can find more about their fall and winter promotions here.  (FYI - if you can make it to Hawaii before December 22nd, you get even better rates and a $150 credit.)

Kapalua Villas (Maui)
One of my favorite places to stay on Maui is in Kapalua.  The resort is offering a “Three for Free” promotion on villa stays from now through December 19th.  The promotion includes a fifth night free, $100 activity credit, and a free pineapple plantation tour.

$29 One-Way Inter-Island Fares with go!
go! airlines is celebrating their 1,000,000th passenger with $29 one-way fares from November 19th through January 21st.  You must purchase your tickets online at www.iflygo.com by November 16th at 11:59 p.m.  Additional taxes and fees apply and there are some blackout dates.

image US Airways has announced some great fares to Hawaii from all across the US Mainland.  One way fares are as low as $182.  It seems like the East Coast folks have been snubbed with some of the recent fare deals, but this sale includes East coast departures as well.  For example, the Charlotte (CLT) to Honolulu (HNL) flight is $278 one way. For details and restrictions, click here.

Don’t forget that Kauai hotels are also on sale this fall and there are big deals for the Big Island.  If you’re dreaming of that perfect Hawaii vacation, this fall is a great time to save money.

Hot Hawaii Travel Deals!

Several new Hawaii travel bargains have popped up in the last few hours and I wanted to pass them along to you.

Destination Villas is having a Big Island half priced sale worth checking out. A beautiful ocean view, two-bedroom villa like this one, is on sale for $699 for 5 nights.  Their announcement says that the sale is valid for travel between August 22nd through September 8th, but I received an e-mail from the company saying, “but we can extend it a bit longer for your audience until September 30th.”  Thanks Destination Villas for extending the sale to Go Visit Hawaii readers!  [Note:  I just wanted to make it clear that I don't receive any commission or compensation from Destination Villas.  I'm simply passing along the deals as and when I see them.]

Orbitz is having a 72-hour sale beginning today.  Per Budget Travel Blog, you can save $50 on  a two-night hotel or air/hotel package for travel between now and November 1st.  You will need to use the promotional code ‘72HRSALE’.

Classic Vacations has a new promotion for vacations to Maui, Oahu, Kauai and the Big Island.  You can get a free companion ticket and free rental car saving you up to $800.  You’ll need to book by August 31st.  For more information, click here

Big Island Vacation Rental Sale

image  Destination Villas has announced a sale on any 7-night stay in July at one of their select Hawaii vacation rental properties.  Prices start at $899 plus taxes (11.42%), cleaning fee ($130) and booking fee.  Follow this link to see an example of what sort of place you can find at that price.

I’ve only just discovered this Destination Villas’ site today.  It looks to be similar to Vacation Rental By Owners, but with much better functionality and user friendliness.  It even has a last minute deals feature.

Prince Hotels just announced that they are offering a special promotion of reserving one room at the regular rate and getting a second room for free.  If you are a Prince Preferred Member, you can get an additional 10% off the promotional rate.  Here are examples of the rates you can get from this 2 for 1 promotion:

Oceanfront Marina room at the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki & Golf Club on Oahu - the first room is $375 and the second room is free.

Here are the conditions and restrictions of the promotion:

Upgrade category rates available. Rates are per night plus applicable taxes. Based on availability, single/double occupancy. Must be a Prince Preferred Member to reserve the Prince Preferred 2 For 1 Promotion. The dates of stay for both rooms must be overlapping to qualify for the complimentary room rate on the second room. The second room must be of equal or lesser value than the first room purchased. Third person charges apply on the complimentary room. Not valid with any other special rates, promotions or offers. Some restrictions and blackout dates may apply.
