Hawaii Vacation News Roundup for October 11th

Posted on Thu, Oct 11, 2007 by Sheila

General Hawaii

Can today’s vacation news possibly top the arrival of the humpback whales?  I’m not sure, but I’ll give it a shot.  :-)

  • Lava hasn’t been flowing to the ocean in months, but this article says that in about “a month or two”, the lava may be flowing to the sea again.  I wonder if this is just speculation, wishful thinking, or scientifically forecasted?  Only Madame Pele knows for sure.
  • Another nugget from the article referenced above is that there is a 2.5 hour catamaran tour that takes you along 20 miles of the Big Island’s coastline.  You can see over 50 waterfalls.  (Waterfalls?  Yes, please!)  Here’s a link to the Lava Ocean web site where you can find more information on the their tours.
  • Ever heard of Queen’s Bath in Kauai?  Here’s an in depth article about this natural lava bed pool in Princeville.  (Don’t forget to bring your mosquito repellant if you go.  We got attacked by mosquitos while we were headed through the wooded area to Queens Bath.)

I love whale season! Sometimes we can see them from the plane as we’re flying over.
