Maui July 4th Fireworks & Celebrations 2024

No publicly organized fireworks show in West Maui for 2024

Independence Day on Maui will be a different this year without our beloved Lahaina town hosting the island’s traditional fireworks show.  The nice folks with the LahainaTown Action Committee (LAC) typically organize this annual fireworks event. They sought the community’s input in the hopes of hosting a fireworks show in nearby Ka’anapali for 2024, but on June 5, 2024, LAC issued the following statement:

“Following further community feedback and careful deliberation, the LahainaTown Action Committee (LAC) has decided against organizing a fireworks display for the 2024 July 4th celebration in West Maui. This decision reflects both limited financial support, as indicated by our recent survey, and the sensitive timing near the anniversary of last year’s wildfire.”

On a related note, on July 5th, LAC has organized a Kokua for Maui event at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This event is designed to support small businesses and artisans who were impacted by the August 2023 wildfires.
