Hawaii Vacation News Roundup for October 17th

  • How do you upscale an upscale resort?  The Maui Prince Resort on the sunny south Maui shore is considering tearing down the four-star resort and building something nicer.
  • I ran across this fantastic Kauai trip report.  It’s loaded with great photos and advice.
  • If you find yourself on Maui for Halloween, then Lahaina is the place to be.  Check out all the fun Halloween events that include a parade, costume contest, and much more.
  • Go Visit Hawaii is going to be upgrading to a new software version and moving to a different server. If it seems quiet around here, it’s because we’re working hard to get the upgrades complete.

  1. Hi Charley – I’m glad that you liked the Kauai trip report. It is especially meaningful now that you, a Kauai expert, have put your stamp of approval on it Mahalo for stopping in and commenting!

  2. Another fun event, for any scuba divers who are going to be vacationing on Maui for Halloween is the 9th Annual Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest hosted by Mau Dreams Dive Co. It takes place on Oct 27th this year… complete info here: http://www.mauidreamsdiveco.com/dive/events/index.php?id=6

Dave and I did 3 of the pumpkin dives when we lived on Maui. We had a great time each year and the last year, Dave and our oldest even won a prize for their pumpkin.

So for scuba divers… it would make a unique memory of their trip to Maui.

  3. Hi Susan – That is too cool!! I’ll have to mention it in the next news roundup so that more folks will see it. Thanks so much for adding that!!
