Malena’s shot shows the Hokule’a, which is a modern re-creation of a double-hulled voyaging canoe. It’s fashioned in the same style that the early Polynesians used to explore and discover distant Polynesian islands. Hokule’a is celebrating 50 years of sailing and perpetuating the fascinating traditional sailing culture.
Malena took this photo In November 2017. She told us that she “had the great opportunity to visit onboard Hokule’a when she arrived at Moloka’i in her “Mahalo, Hawai’i Sail”.
