While Kaua’i focuses on recovery from Hurricane Lowell, the Hawai’i Tourism Authority advises visitors with upcoming Kauai plans to reschedule to a later date or consider visiting another Hawaiian island.
At the moment Kaua’i must prioritize clearing and repairing roads, restoring power, and the health and safety of residents and local businesses.
Travelers who would like to reschedule should check directly with their airline, accommodation and other travel providers for options.
“Our hope is that visitors will adjust their travel plans instead of canceling their trip to Hawai‘i altogether,” said Caroline Anderson, interim president and chief executive officer of Hawai‘i Tourism Authority. “Adjusting your itinerary allows you to continue your Hawai’i vacation while supporting the state’s broader visitor economy as Kaua’i recovers.”
We hope that Kaua’i recovers quickly. When the island is ready for visitors to return, local businesses will need our support.
