Mahalo to Lucia Smoliarova for sharing this neat shot for Aloha Friday Photos.
Lucia’s photo shows Halona Beach Cove on Oahu. As you can tell, it’s a very small beach, but here’s an interesting tidbit about this tiny beach — it’s known by these three different names:
- Halona Beach/Cove
- “Eternity Beach” due to it being using in the 1953 movie From Here to Eternity
- “Cockroach Cove” for reasons unknown and I’m not sure I want to know why either.
You can get a very nice view of Halona Beach Cove, like Lucia did, from the Halona Blowhole Lookout at the parking lot level.
While you do see people at the beach, taking the steep, slippery path down to the beach it is not advised. At the start of the decent, there’s a sign that says, “DANGER DO NOT GO BEYOND THIS POINT.” Though it might seem tempting to want to go to the beach, we advise taking a pretty photo from above, like Lucia did, when visiting Halona Blowhole Lookout.
Happy Aloha Friday!
