Visiting the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum

Last week, we shared that we had recently visited two Pearl Harbor attractions, the USS Bowfin and the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, that aren’t as well known as their neighbors — the USS Arizona Memorial and the Missouri Battleship. This week, we’ll focus on the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum.

The museum is located on historic Ford Island, which is an active military base. To get to the museum, you must get a shuttle bus from the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, which is where the USS Arizona Memorial and USS Bowfin are located. It’s the same shuttle that can take you to the USS Missouri Battleship Memorial. The shuttle ride takes about 15 minutes.

The museum is widespread with an indoor, air-conditioned museum, some aircraft outdoors and an open-air hangar.

The displays are well done and most provide some context to the aircraft and its history.

If you are an aviation enthusiast, you will enjoy this museum. It’s interesting to get to see the aircraft up close.

At the time of writing, ticket prices are $25 for adults and $12 for children. We used our Hawaii Entertainment coupon book which gave us one free admission with one paid admission.

  1. As someone who wanted to be a fighter pilot as a kid, this museum was pretty cool. Getting up close and touching fighter jets was a great experience!
