*  Anyone up for an island hop? To celebrate Maui’s OGG airport becoming a second Hawaii hub for Hawaiian Airlines, the company is putting inter-island flights to/from Maui on sale starting at $69 one-way. Round-trip purchase is not required to get this low fare. You must purchase the tickets by March 12 for travel between March 13 and June 30, 2012.  [The fine print: Fare applies for non-stop one-way (and does not require a roundtrip purchase) itinerary between Kahului (OGG), HI and Hawaii (Honolulu-HNL, Lihue-LIH, Kona-KOA, or Hilo-ITO). Tickets must be booked between March 6, 2012 through March 12, 2012 with travel period March 13, 2012 through June 30, 2012. Fare must be purchased at least 7 days prior to departure date. Fare may not be available over all dates and fare on some dates may be higher. Fare subject to seat availability during the travel period shown and may change at any time. Fares shown include taxes and fees including a $2.50 per enplanement September 11th Security Fee (not to exceed $10).]

*  Oahu’s Turtle Bay Resort is on sale starting at $179 per night. This deal either includes an oceanfront or oceanview room depending on when you stay. There are some restricted dates, but you this deal is available most dates through December 19, 2012. See this link for the details.

*   Lava finally overtook the last home in the Royal Gardens subdivision over the weekend. Though Jack Thompson had a long run of living in Royal Gardens he was evacuated by helicopter shortly before lava entered his home. That’s an end to an era. I always admired his resolve to live there as long as he could. I wish him luck in finding his new home. Here’s the related Big Island Video News story.
