Big happenings on the Big Island! First, Hurricane Flossie is passing nearby. Thankfully Flossie’s strength has been reduced to a category 3 storm and it appears that the eye will not make landfall. Up to 15 inches of rain are expected on the Big Island today. As if a hurricane wasn’t enough to deal with, a 5.4 magnitude earthquake struck the island approximately 25 miles south of Hilo. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Big Island residents and visitors to stay safe.
