Dagmara’s photo was taken at Maui’s Wai’anapanapa State Park in August 2019. There are lots of places in Hawaii that will wow you and Wai’anapanapa is one of them. The coastline is stunning as you get a taste of in today’s photo. There’s something about the black lava rocks and beach that make the surrounding colors seem more vivid.
To visit Wai’anapanapa, you will need to do some planning ahead. Here’s what you need to know:
- Wai’anapanapa is located off the road to Hana. Traveling the road itself is an amazing experience with many curves carving through a rainforest environment. It’s not an easy drive, so you’d be wise to read our advice on exploring the road to Hana.
- A new reservation system to visit Wai’anapanapa was implemented in 2021. Visitors from outside of the state of Hawaii must have a reservation in order to visit this park. See our article about the Wai’anapanapa reservation system for some additional insights.
