2007 Worlds Best Fireknife Winner, Andrew “Umi” Sexton

Earlier in the week, I posted about the exciting World Fireknife Competition held at Oahu’s Polynesian Cultural Center.   For excellent coverage of the competition with fantastic photos, visit the PCC Fireknife Competition PCC Blog.  If you were unable to attend the event, I read that a DVD with highlights of the event will be available.  Congratulations to all participants!

I was able to attend all 4 days of the competition, the female competitor and the tandem performers stole the show. Two fire enigne stations watched the first show, but everything went well.

I tend to create a similar looking effect when I toast marshmallows. They often catch fire and then I wave around the stick, trying to put them out. :-)

Seriously, those guys have some great hand-eye coordination.
