The Hawaiian Islands will be decked in red, white and blue for a festive Independence Day. From patriotic parades to concerts to spectacular fireworks shows, you can find family-friendly celebrations across Hawaii!
Here’s a summary of what’s happening for the fourth of July on each of the four major islands:
Oahu July 4th
If Oahu is where you’ll be celebrating the fourth of July, you have your choice of options. Here are the highlights for the day:
- Kailua Beach hosts their 76th annual Independence Day parade at 10:00 a.m. This year’s parade theme is “Waves of Aloha”.
- Ala Moana Center hosts free concerts with some of Hawaii’s top artists starting at 11:00 a.m.
- On the North Shore, there are two, excellent celebrations with a big fireworks finale:
- 4th of July at Hukilau Marketplace in Laie
- 4th of July Fireworks and Community Festival in Haleiwa
- Other Oahu events and fireworks shows include:
- Kailau Beach fireworks show
- Friday night fireworks from Hilton Hawaiian Village
- There will be firework shows from Schofield Barracks and Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. These events are not open to the general public, but the public may view the fireworks from off base.

Maui July 4th
If Maui is your destination for the fourth of July, you can enjoy some free concerts in Kaanapali’s Whalers Village and at The Shops at Wailea. After dark, a grand fireworks show is planned in Wailea Beach starting at 8:00 p.m. See the full Maui 4th of July guide for additional events and details.
Hawaii, the Big Island July 4th
Both Hilo and Kailua-Kona will be hosting family-friendly fun and spectacular fireworks shows.
- In Hilo, the day starts with “Hot Rides Expo” car show, live music, keiki (kids’) activities. The big fireworks show, “Hilo Bay Blast”, is set to begin at 8:00 p.m.
- In Kailua-Kona, the annual Independence Day Parade will run through beautiful Ali’i Drive starting at 6:00 p.m. with fireworks to follow starting at 8:00 p.m.
Additional events include the annual rubber duckie race at the Kings’ shops and the annual rodeo and horse races at Parker Ranch. See the full Hawaii, the Big Island July 4th guide for more details and additional events.
Kauai July 4th
Kauai’s biggest Independence Day celebration actually takes place on “Independence Day Eve”, on July 3rd with America’s Most West Freedom Fest hosted by the Pacific Missile Range Facility on the west side of the island. This event is free and open to the public. Civilians need to take note of restrictions and instructions for entry.
Unfortunately, the annual “Concert in the Sky” event that normally takes place in Lihue on July 4th is cancelled for 2025. Organizers hope to bring the event back next year.
