According to this article, for $40, you may soon be able to purchase a lot on the island of Loihi. It is located just 22 miles southeast of the Big Island. Sounds good, huh?
Though this may sound great, the problem is that the island is current being formed by lava and and is more than 3,000 feet below the Pacific Ocean. Loihi will probably not surface above the water for another 40,000 years or so, taking a few thousand years here or there. 🙂 Oh well, I guess we can dream on…
