Thanks to the efforts of Kauai community volunteers, Polihale State Park re-opened this weekend. As I reported in January, the park had to close due to heavy flood damage.

When the closure was first announced, funding wasn’t readily available for the repair work and a timeline for completion was unclear. I’m very impressed with the donation of equipment, skill, and aloha spirit that has re-opened access to this pristine park.
