Mahalo to Lillian Martin for sharing this scene for Aloha Friday Photos. The magenta bougainvillea draping over the waterfall makes an interesting contrast to the brilliant green surroundings.
Lillian took this shot from the grounds of the Grand Wailea on the south side of Maui. The landscaping, water features, and sculptures of this resort are worth exploring, even if you aren’t staying there.
When we like to explore a hotel, but we aren’t staying there, we’ll typically go to one of the resort’s restaurants, look around their shops, or book a spa treatment. We’ve actually done all three of these at Grand Wailea when we were staying elsewhere at the time.
While we’re on the topic of Grand Wailea, in this week’s edition of Travelzoo’s Top 20 deals, there is a deal for Grand Wailea. As a five-star hotel, it commands a five-star price. The rates start at $699 per night with the deal. (Wailea is quite an expensive area, where it’s not unusual for the average hotel rate to exceed $1,000 per night.) The deal includes daily resort fees plus passes to the Hydrotherapy Garden that’s part of the spa.
Okay, now I’m concerned you might think this is a commercial for Grand Wailea. I can assure you that it’s not. I get nothing out of sharing these insights and the Travelzoo deal.
We hope you have a happy Aloha Friday and a great weekend!
