Where to find New Year’s Eve fireworks and fun to welcome in 2023

Happy New Year’s Eve!

Thankfully, in Hawaii, this New Year’s Eve is going to be much more festive compared to the previous two years. Most fireworks shows are back in action! As we prepare to welcome in 2023, we wanted to share a list of great places to catch fireworks and celebrate the evening around the Hawaiian Islands.

Oahu

Waikiki Beach and Ko Olina fireworks shows are set for midnight. There are also plenty of special dining options. If you want to dance into 2023, there are quite a few parties with bands and/or DJs. See our Waikiki/Oahu New Year’s Eve events page

for all the details.

Maui

Midnight fireworks are planned for Wailea Beach at Grand Wailea! Additionally, there are several fun parties to celebrate. See our Maui New Year’s Eve page.

Lanai

Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay is hosting a New Year’s Eve Celebration with live performances, dancing and midnight fireworks. See this link for more information.

Kauai

After a two-year hiatus, fireworks are back at Poipu Beach! This family-friendly celebration includes an outdoor movie for entertainment and  an earlier fireworks show. This year, the fireworks are set to light up the sky at approximately 8:15pm. See our Kauai New Year’s Eve page for more details.

Hawaii (Big) Island

We were hoping that the Hilo fireworks might be back this year, but sadly, they’re not. That was the only somewhat, regularly-scheduled, public fireworks show on the island.

The Mauna Lani, Auberge is hosting fireworks for their guests.  If you’re staying in the Mauna Lani Resort and have access to parking or can snag one of the limited public parking spots, you might be able to catch a glimpse of the fireworks show.

(Pssst… we noticed that the Canoehouse

at the Mauna Lani Auberge has dinner reservations available for their six-course, New Year’s Eve Tasting menu. You could have dinner and hang out in the area, then catch the fireworks show. It is not for those who are faint-of-wallet, though, at cost of $500 per person. See this link for more information.)

There may be other private fireworks shows, if so, the venues are keeping a tight lip on them.

Check out our page for more ideas on how to celebrate New Year’s Eve on the Big Island

No matter where you’ll be when 2023 arrives, we wish you a Hau’oli Makahiki Hou!
