Hau’oli Makahiki Hou! What’s happening in Hawaii for New Year’s Eve 2023/2024

As the final hours of 2023 fade into 2024, we want to wish you a Hau’oli Makahiki Hou! That’s the Hawaiian way of saying Happy New Year.

Hawaii really knows how to celebrate holidays and celebrating the new year is no exception. Here’s a summary of the bigger events and public fireworks shows in Hawaii to welcome in 2024.

Oahu

There are several fantastic fireworks shows open to the public:

• Waikiki Beach hosts their annual fireworks show.
• Wai Kai in the Ewa Beach area hosts entertainment and a fireworks show. This is an exciting, new event.
• Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore hosts a soiree and midnight fireworks, which is complimentary for their resort guests. Non-resort guests can participate for a fee.
• Per KHON2, Ko Olina is hosting fireworks. Parking is limited, so these fireworks shows are not openly advertised.

Maui

Lanai

The Four Seasons Resort Lanai hosts their annual fireworks show near Hulopoe Bay.

Hawaii (Big) Island

There are no fireworks shows that are open to the public this year for New Year’s Eve, however there will be some fireworks shows hosted by some of the resorts. See our Hawaii (Big) Island New Year’s Eve page for more details.

Kauai

Normally Poipu Beach hosts a fireworks show, but it appears that they will not be hosting that event this year.
