Aloha Friday Photos: Sunrise Glow, Honu Hangout, and Dramatic Poipu Sky

Mahalo to Kathleen Poulos from Mission Viejo, California for sharing these captivating Kauai shots! In her email to us, Kathleen said, “Love your newsletter, I have been reading it for years (and getting good tips). I wanted to submit three photos for consideration for the Aloha Friday Photo…” Mahalo for the kind words from Kathleen. I’m so glad our tips have been helpful. My aim is to always share Hawaii travel advice as if I was giving it straight to friends and family.

I had a difficult time picking just one photo to feature, so I decided to break tradition and share all three!

First up is this beautiful September 2nd sunrise from Shipwreck Beach. Captured at 6:25 a.m., this sunrise surely made the early rise worth the effort. What a great way to start a day!

Kathleen’s next photo shows a jaw-dropping amount of resting honu (sea turtles) on Poipu Beach. She estimates there were about 40 turtles sleeping on the beach.

Kathleen noted that this photo was taken at 9:57 p.m. with iPhone’s night-vision mode. She stood from a distance, behind a coned-off area, and zoomed in for the shot. No disturbing lights were used.

To cap off these great Kauai vacation shots, Kathleen shared this dramatic evening sky shot taken from the grounds of the Marriott in Poipu. Wow, what a stunning scene!

Mahalo again to Kathleen for sharing these fantastic Kauai photos!

Happy Aloha Friday!
