Hawaii Vacation News Roundup for September 25th

  • The Star Bulletin reports that Kilauea lava flows continue to advance into the forest and towards the Puna district.  The volcano observatory says that they don’t anticipate any immediate threats, but “vent areas and lava channels are hazardous and conditions can change rapidly.”
  • Christopher Elliott has a nice article with five reasons why renting a home or condo can be a better option than staying in a hotel on vacation.  I am definitely a proponent of considering condo rental for Hawaii vacations.
  • Continuing on the condo topic, per Budget Travel Blog, HomeAway announced a guarantee that will take some of the risk out of rental vacations.  If a HomeAway listing on one of its sites turns out to be fraudulent, the company will offer you a refund of up to $5,000 in rental fees.
  • The Hawaii Superferry had plans to resume service to Kauai from Honolulu.  Service would have started back up tomorrow, but those plans have been “delayed to an unspecified future date.”

  1. I really want to take my girls to see the lava flow but the sulfur is just so overwhelming! I don’t know if they could handle it.

  2. Hi Sean,

Thanks for stopping by Go Visit Hawaii and commenting!

I’m a big fan of “This Just In” at Budget Travel, so it’s easy for me to give a shout out!
