Is there any wonder that Kauai is called the "Garden Isle"?

Taro Farms

The photo above was taken from the Hanalei Lookout.  I love all the shades of green from the taro fields to the lush mountains.  To see another photo taken from the same lookout click here.

You can find this picturesque lookout off of Highway 56 on the mauka side (mountain side) of the road.  It is located very near to the Princeville shopping center of Kauai.  See our interactive map to help you locate this wonderful lookout on the North Shore of Kauai.

  1. What a beautiful photograph! My roots are in Hanalei, my grandmother was born there. Back in those days, Hanalei was planted in rice, and she was born to rice farmers.

  2. What a beautiful place to claim your roots in! I think that Princeville/Hanalei area might be my favorite are in Hawaii.
