Papakolea, the green sand beach on the Big Island of Hawaii, is one of only four green sand beaches in the world. Along with being unique, it’s quite remote, too. In addition to the relatively long drive to get to the south side of the island, to reach Papakolea, a fairly long, dusty and hot hike is required.
