What’s Hawaii’s currency?

One of the darnedest Hawaii vacation questions I often hear is – what’s the currency in Hawaii? Well, since Hawaii is a state of the United States of America, the currency is the US Dollar.

You’ll find automatic teller machines (ATMs) all across Hawaii’s towns, which makes it easy to withdraw cash while you’re on your Hawaii vacation.

  • that's funny. I can kinda hear it if it's someone from another country....
what's nice about it is that when one visits, it feels like a "foreign country" because of the weather and beaches and hikes! different from anywhere in the US. :)))

  • I hope whoever is asking isn't an American. I am so ready to come see you guys again.

  • @ kat - oh, yes, I totally agree that you do feel sort of like you're in a foreign country in some ways. But, one of the many great things about Hawaii is that you have the familiarity of US infrastructure. We just spent some time in the Caribbean, and their infrastructure wasn't nearly as nice as Hawaii's

@ Mike - sadly, I think some of them are Americans. Eeek! By the way, you may not know this, but though I kinda know Hawaii like the back of my hand, I don't actually live there. It's really an honor that most folks assume that I do live there. See this old post https://www.govisithawaii.com/2008/06/26/where-do-i-live-on-hawaii/ where I write about living on the Hawaiian "island" of North Carolina. :)
