Let’s go relax by the pool with a virtual escape to Lanai.

I took this photo at the Four Seasons at Manele Bay on the island of Lanai. Beyond the pool, you can see the lovely beach and marine preserve of Hulopoe Bay.  Also, in the distance, you can just catch the top of Puupehe (Sweetheart Rock)

. I love this photo, because each time I see it, it instantly relaxes me by transporting me back there. So, let’s all picture ourselves here while we get into our weekend frame of mind.  Happy Aloha Friday!

  • I am all for that! Lanai is by far one of our favorite escapes! Not only is it known for beautiful vistas like that but some of the best off-road adventures like Garden of the Gods, Polihua Beach which is almost always deserted and the Munro Trail. We love going to the Blue Ginger Cafe or Pele's Other Garden in the towns square and just chilling out. Thanks so much for the beautiful picture and a good reason to break out the vacation dvds! :)

  • Hi Angie - Oh yeah! The off-roading is fun, adventurous, combined with a little bit of teeth rattling. :)

Lanai City is full of lovely, relaxed restaurants and shops. It's so nice and cool there. Love it!

    Enjoy your Lanai pool time!

  • Wow, nice view. We hadn't really given much thought of visiting Lanai since I don't golf and we're not big hikers, but that is probably a poor stereotype. I also checked out your Poihua Beach post, too, so now I think it's something we should start considering. Good thing there's a good number of posts on Lanai right here at your site. :)

  • Hi Kris - maybe the next time you're in Kaanapali you could take the ferry from Lahaina to Lanai and take a tour. That would give you a taste of what it's like. http://www.go-lanai.com/

Lanai seems to be more laid back than Maui and some of the other islands. There's only 3 hotels total there and only one of those is on a beach. There's a great shuttle system, so you don't have to get a rental car.

  • What a nice photo Sheila, it also made me feel instantly relaxed! Where did you take this photo from? i.e. top of the stairway?

  • Hi HVG - I'm glad you liked the photo. I think I took it from a lanai landing from the hotel lobby...it was somewhere outside from the lower level of the lobby.
