Iz – White Sandy Beach

Here’s one of my favorite Hawaiian tunes by one of my favorite Hawaiian artist, Iz (Israel Kamakawiwo’ole). Take a listen and instantly be transported to relaxation on a white sandy beach in Hawaii. If you like this song and video, you might also like this post on Iz singing another great tune, Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

  1. White Sandy Beach is definitely one of my favs, and Somewhere Over the Rainbow still gives me chicken skin whenever I hear it.

My wife and I are also big fans of Hapa, and we’re really excited that we’ll be able to see them in concert at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center next month.

  2. I’m currently loving “Ka Uluwehi o ke Kai” as performed by Hapa. Either that or “Ku’u Home o Kahulu’u” leading into “Ku’u Lei Awapuhi” performed by the Barefoot Natives. Or anything by Queen Lili’uokalani – especially Weldon Kekauoha and Tapa Groove’s version of “Queen’s Jubilee”. Gosh, I just can’t pick! So much good stuff to choose from!

  3. @ Kris – I had to laugh at your chicken skin comment. What a great description. 🙂 That’s so awesome you’ll get to see Hapa next month in Maui. How awesome!

@ JulieAnn – I’m going to have to check out some of your favorites. Thanks for sharing them!

    1. Chicken Skin: AKA: Goose bumps, ANGEL BUMPS, TRUTH BUMPS. They are something so different in our minds, and bodies. Just like “fireflys” are special, so is .. chicken skin! Aloha !

  4. There are so many songs to choose from. I love all IZ’s CDs and those of Keali`i Reichel. I also love anything that makes me want to start to hula (beginner though I am.)

So I know it’s going to sound corny, but my favourite song is Aloha Friday. It just brings back so many memories of our time living on Maui.

And this will sound even cornier… but some of the keiki songs just make me giggle. Russel’s Ukus comes immediately to mind.

  5. Hi Susan – I heard your favorite song last night as we drove from Hilo to Waikoloa. “It’s aloha Friday, no work til Monday…”

I don’t know Russel’s Ukus…I’ll have to keep an eye and ear open.

    Thanks for sharing your favorites.
