Hawaii Vacation News Roundup for October 24th

  • When you reserve a vacation condo or home on Maui, Kauai or Oahu, you’ll need to verify that the rental is properly licensed as a vacation rental.  This Conde Nast article explains the problem and crack down on unofficial vacation rentals.  I’m going to do some digging around to see if I can find out what sort of questions you’ll need to ask and/or how you can verify that your rental is licensed.  If anyone has any contacts in local government who can steer us in the right direction, please let me know. 
  • Delta is adding new daily nonstop flights between Los Angeles and Kauai’s Lihue airport and the Big Island’s Kona airport.  These flights will begin June 5th per CNN.  The good news is that you can get $299 one-way fares on these new flights if you book by Monday, October 29th.  Additional taxes and fees will apply.  The fares are good for travel between June 5th and August 5th 2008.
