Maui to Get Its First Traffic Roundabout

When you next visit Maui, you may see something that would look better placed in Europe. Yep, Maui is getting its first traffic roundabout – you know, the circular traffic island that no one ever seems to figure out how to enter or leave. 🙂

It must be one heck of a roundabout though, as Mayor Charmaine Tavares is seeking as much as $3 million in county and federal funds.

The budget request includes $200,000 in design money, $500,000 for construction and another $300,000 for construction management services. The anticipated $2 million in federal funds would go to construction.
