Last month we reported about the start of a COVID surge in Hawaii. Case numbers reached record highs for the state.

Now, thankfully, cases have recently been on a downward trend as you can see from the chart above. COVID hospitalizations are also trending downward. Yesterday, the state’s lieutenant governor reported that hospitalizations are down 37% from the recent peak.
In early August, Hawaii’s governor asked visitors to voluntarily forgo travel to the state through October. Hopefully, as cases reduce, the state will be in a better position to more freely welcome travels.
