General Hawaii

Take me there Tuesday: To the black sand beach at Waianapanapa

There are so many wonderful sights in Hawaii and, then, there are truly incredible places that knock your socks off. Waianapanapa is one of those knock-your-socks-off places.

The black sand beach at Waianapanapa is a short diversion off Maui’s winding road to Hana. It’s one of the must-see stops that we include in our road to Hana advice.

The brilliant green vegetation and ocean blues seem to be amplified by the black sand and rugged lava shoreline.

To learn more about visiting this area, see our post about Waianapanapa State Park.
