Hawaii Vacation Deals and News Roundup for December 16th

Have you been singing the song Mele Kalikimaka like I have?  In case you don’t know what Mele Kalikimaka means or know the song, then see this post on how to say Merry Christmas in Hawaii.  In that post, you’ll find a link to a YouTube video that includes the classic Bing Crosby version.

  • This deal for the ResortQuest Mahana Kaanapali
is pretty darn good.  You can stay in an oceanfront studio for $179 per night. For $20 more you can upgrade to a oceanfront 1-bedroom suite that sleeps up to four. This offer is good for January 2nd – April 12th. The Kaanapali area is a popular Maui vacation destination and the ResortQuest Mahana is currently the best rated resort on TripAdvisor for the Lahaina area which includes Kaanapali.
  • New Hawaiian Airlines flight between Honolulu and Las Vegas start February 23rd. Did you know that’s one of Hawaiian Airlines’ most popular routes? (Source)
  • I’ve updated this Christmas events in Waikiki post with a few more holiday events such as the Honolulu Boy Choir free concert on the 21st at the Embassy Suites in Waikiki and information on Hula Christmas performances.
  • The Star-Bulletin has a thorough article on the latest Hawaii hotel rates and occupancy levels.  Here’s an excerpt that summarizes the statewide picture, ” Only 67.1 percent of Hawaii’s hotel rooms were filled in October 2008 as compared with 73.6 percent during the same period in 2007, and visitors paid an average daily rate of $177.41 this year, a price drop of 3.4 percent from the prior year.”  Let me translate this into music for the Hawaii travelers’ ears, “If you vacation in Hawaii now, you’ll find great rates and less people.”  Isn’t that what we all want?

  • Hawaii being such a great value has to spur travel here. Mr. Market always works.
    Aloha,
    Keahi

  • Keahi - Hawaii is a super value right now, isn't it? It's too bad that many people are under the false impression that Hawaii is exorbitantly expensive. Of course this perception is only perpetuated by AAA with their inflated reports they put out each year.
