Hawaii Vacation Deals and News Roundup for November 3rd

We all need some nice Hawaii news on this election eve, don’t we?  If you’re tired of the nasty TV political ads, you’ll be pleased to know that Go Visit Hawaii is political ad-free each and every day!

  • Here’s a nice deal at the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa for $199/night
for an ocean view room.  That rate is $150 off the normal rates.  One of my Maui blogging pals over at Kaanapali Dreamin is a fan of this resort.
  • The Wheel of Fortune shows that were set in Waikoloa Beach Resort on the Big Island begin airing this week. I believe the shows actually begin airing on the 5th, per the show guide and will continue for the next three weeks. Note to TV executives: set a show in Hawaii and I will watch it.
  • For those thinking about getting hitched in Hawaii, Maui’s Kaanapali Beach Hotel has launched some new all inclusive wedding packages that start at $950 plus tax.
  • I found myself nodding in agreement several times as I read John DiScala’s air travel etiquette tips on Tripso. I hope that the lady sat in the window seat next to me between Dallas and Raleigh reads these. Apparently she doesn’t know that “and [when] some poor soul gets stuck in the middle seat, it’s common knowledge that they get both armrests
. So don’t try to elbow them for space.”

  • I'm personally voting for Hawaii to redistribute some of its sunshine, ahi, and hula pies to those of us that are less fortunate! ;-)

  • That's an absolute steal for the Sheraton, just for the location of the resort itself. We've been going there for years and I recommend it to everyone that asks me about Maui.

I also checked out airfare from Chicago for the week of 11/30 to 12/6, and United had round-trip, non-stop flights for $450/person. Too good to be true, isn't it?

Unfortunately, we have to pass because of work schedules and a few other things going in December, but we really wish we could. If we weren't already planning a trip for February, it probably would have been a done deal.

If anyone here takes advantage of that offer, please do share (and have a Mai Tai for me). The Sheraton is supposed to be opening it's new Black Rock Spa this month and my wife is looking for first impressions on how it compares to the Westin Heavenly Spa.

Oh, and I second Andy's vote on the hula pie. The last slice I had was from Leilani's at Whalers Village for my birthday this past April and haven't tasted a better dessert since. :)

  • @ Andy - LOL

@ Kris - The Hawaii deals are really, really outstanding right now. I'll look forward to your review of the Black Rock Spa. Me likey spas. :)
