  • Thanks for the mention Sheila!

Now, about that boat... I think there will always be motion sickness but I think everyone was hoping for a decrease in protesters on the Maui end, but that's not what they got. The number of people protesting apparently increased instead.

I understand it but the poor Superferry has tried to do everything to comply with the requests and guidelines requested and/or demanded of them.

I wish someone would put Frank Delima's song about the Superferry on YouTube! :)

  • Hi Evelyn - I really enjoyed your Honolulu holiday lights article. You always do a wonderful job of sharing your city with us.

I rode the Maui to Molokai ferry back in September and in the afternoon, the ride was ROUGH!! We are not prone to sea sickness and we nearly lost our cookies. I asked one of the nice crewmen if it was abnormally rough and he said it was a good day. YIKES!

Do you think that the winter surf is making the superferry rougher than normal? I was kind of expecting that the size and weight of the superferry would lessen the surf effects.

I really, really hope that the superferry and protestors can find a mutually agreeable situation.

  • I hope things settle down between the all parties as well.

I do think the winter surf has had a lot to do with things. Our winds have picked up, our temperatures have dropped a little, finally, and I'm sure the sea is in winter mode!

The other thing that dawned on me was that, because it's whale season, the Superferry has to go slower and that might make the motion more obvious than if it just kind of ran over it all. Just a thought. :)

  • Ah, I see. That makes a lot of sense that the slower speed would make the ride rockier. Thanks, Evelyn.

  • I came across this Flickr album this morning. It's someone's photos of the Superferry protest on Maui. Away from the media's camera's we see what look to me to be a bunch of normal people trying to make their point peacefully. I hope calm and reason prevail.
