Hawaii Vacation News Roundup for August 24th
- Will the August 28th launch of the new Hawaii Superferry be delayed? The Hawaii Supreme court sided with environmentalists yesterday. The court ruled that the state must conduct an environmental assessment. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens between now and anticipated Tuesday launch date.
- Smarter Travel lists Hawaii as one of the top choices for autumn travel citing the great deals during the fall shoulder season. In addition, Smarter Travel mentions “Several seasonal events make fall a special time to visit Hawaii. The second annual Maui Pineapple Festival & Homecomingshowcases Hawaii’s most famous fruit with a themed lunch and live music on September 22. Through October, Aloha Festivals are celebrated on the islands with music, parades, and cultural events. Kona hosts the Coffee Cultural Festival from November 2 to 11 with samplings of its homegrown beverage.”
- Big Island residents are keeping a close eye on latest lava flow, but officials seem confident that it poses no immediate danger.
- Bette Midler got in trouble this week for chopping down more than 230 trees and grading a road without a permit on her property in Kauai. She’ll now have to pay $6,500 fine. So, let this be a reminder to for you to keep your axes and chainsaws back on the mainland when you travel to Hawaii. 🙂
