The newest Kilauea eruption is the hot news in Hawaii right now. This eruption is a renewed lava lake within Halema’uma’u crater. Per the remarks in the January 6th Kilauea update,
lava has inundated much of the crater floor which is nearly 300 acres or 120 hectares. Wow, that’s a lot of space of an active lava lake! The new depth of lava added onto of the previous crater floor is estimated to be over 30 feet or 9 meters. The USGS created a live stream video to watch the activity in Halema’uma’u crater. At the time of publishing on the morning of January 7th, several lava fountains are active. Also, as we watched the live stream video, we noticed how the crater floor is slowly moving in sloshing motion.
This new eruption at Halema’uma’u is located at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and can be observed from a distance.

I know how much damage volcanoes can cause, so I hate to say it was pretty awesome seeing the video but it was. Kinda amazing how all that works. Pray no damage I'd done from it.
Thankfully, this eruption is not posing a threat to the community.
