While we were staying next door at the JW Marriott Ihilani in Ko Olina, we got a look at the new Disney resort that’s under construction. The Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa, is due to open in August 2011. Of the six towers, two of them will be dedicated hotel accommodations, while four will be for Disney vacation club owners.
Some of you had asked about the Disney resort, so I thought I’d go ahead and share our photos and this brief update. I looked for Mickey Mouse in a construction hat, but didn’t see him. Maybe he was out surfing on the North Shore. Was that too Goofy of me to say? 😉

Boy, that certainly is a big project. My boss from two years ago was big on the Disney Vacation club and was trying to convince us to join - emphasizing that this mouse house was being built.
I'm sure it will be fun for the keiki when it's finished.
Kris - yeah it is a big project. I'm hoping Disney is going to embrace the Hawaiian culture in Oahu. It's early days still, but it appears that they are just by the Hawaiian name and the looks of their website.
When the resort opens and gets towards capacity, we're probably going to need more flights to Oahu from the mainland.
