As this series of 50 facts about the 50th State was evolving, I decided weeks ago that I wanted Hawaii’s state motto to be the 50th fact. Why? Well, I feel that Hawaii’s state motto
captures the essence of the Aloha State.Hawaii’s motto is a Hawaiian phrase, “Ua mau ke ea o ka aina i ka pono”, which literally translates to “the life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness.” This motto was further explained to me to mean “to do what is right in your life and for the land.”
