Hawaii Vacation Deals and News 1/29/09

  • The free hula show at Kuhio Beach Park is having to cut back from six performances to three performances per week- Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights. I was afraid this cutback might happen because of the tough economy. I’m glad that it wasn’t cut out altogether, though. It’s a delightful show with authentic Hawaiian music, chants and dances. I highly recommend seeing it when you are on Oahu, particularly if you are staying in Waikiki Beach.
  • ResortQuest Hawaii announced that they are changing their name back to to their former name which you may recognize – Aston Hotels and Resorts. This Hawaii-based management company celebrates it’s 61st year in the hospitality industry of Hawaii in 2009.
  • Aqua Hotels has a “Waikiki BOGO Sale” which means that if you buy one night’s stay, you can get the second night at half off. If you stay at one of the Aqua Lite properties, you’ll pay $79 for the first night and $39.50 for the second night. That’s two nights for a total cost of $118.50 or $59.25 per night! To get this deal, you must book between Feb 6 – 20 for stays between March 1 – June 30, 2009. Payment is due at the time of booking and is non-refundable. For more details and to book, see this link.
  • TravelZoo is reporting a Hawaii Getaway with three nights plus air for $299 from Pleasant Holidays.
  • The Wyland Waikiki offers free room night, category upgrade and daily continental breakfast for two for stays of three nights or more. Stay six nights and get two nights free. Rates start at $129 per night. For reservations or more information, call The Wyland Waikiki at 866-346-4679 or visit WylandWaikiki.com. (See my review of The Wyland Waikiki
    .)
  • As I’ve been planning my own trip to Oahu, I’ve been looking for coupons and ways to stretch my vacation budget. I’ve written about e-coupons in the past, but thought it was worth reminding you that it’s there and there are coupons for all islands. It seems like there’s some even better coupons that when I last looked at the site. Yay!

  • Glad to see the switch to Aston. The ResortQuest name always felt a little cheap to me. Maybe it's just me?

  • we had a wonderful time at this hula performance and saw the most amazing sunset of our trip!

  • @ Kyle - yeah, ResortQuest is a bit strange sounding. Makes me think of some sort of sci-fi flick name. :)

  • @ Sherri - I'm glad you got to enjoy the hula show. The price (free!) along with the setting with the beach and the banyan tree just can't be beat!
