Mahalo to Barbara Herbst for sharing this lovely photo of Saint Benedict’s Catholic Church on the Big Island.
Saint Benedict’s is more commonly known as Painted Church due to the beautiful murals inside the church. We don’t normally share one of our own photos on Aloha Friday Photo, however, the following photo from our collection shows the interior of Painted Church so that you can get an idea of why the church is called Painted Church.
Painted Church is located on Painted Church Road in Captain Cook, which is south of Kona. See this Google Map for directions. It’s located near Pu’uhonau O Honaunau National Historical Park (also known as Place of Refuge) and convenient to see when you’re in that area.
