Hawaii vacation deals & news: November 12, 2014

* Outrigger Resorts is hosting a Hawaii vacation sweepstakes for four. The #givehawaii sweepstakes invites you to nominate a person who deserves an escape to Hawaii. The prize includes airfare, accommodation and more. This sweepstakes is open to permanent legal US residents and Canada, with some exceptions. See this link for more information and entry.

* Days Inn is giving away seven getaways to deserving veterans including active service members. Learn more about the Days Inn “My Hero” contest here. (FYI –  there is one Days Inn hotel in Hawaii in Kihei on Maui.)

*  Starwoods Preferred Guest Resorts is sponsoring a Honeymoon of a Lifetime Contest. You don’t necessarily have to be a newlywed to enter the contest. Here’s how the sponsor describes who can enter: “Whether you’re engaged, recently married, never had a real honeymoon or just think it’s time for another one, you could win The Honeymoon of a Lifetime Contest just for telling your story!” The grand prize winner will receive a four-night trip for two to Hawaii including roundtrip air transportation, accommodations and five-day car rental. *  Honolulu Magazine presented the 2015 Hale ‘Aina awards for the best Hawaii restaurants. See all the winners here. Note that the winners are primarily concentrated on Oahu, but do scroll down to see the top restaurant winners by island.

* As rumored, the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort at Ko Olina will be be managed by Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. The resort will be redeveloped into Four Seasons-branded private residences per Pacific Business News.

*  CheapAir.com has determined the cheapest days to fly for Christmas. See their analysis here.

*  Lana’i’s extraordinarily scenic golf course formerly known as The Challenge at Manele has been rebranded to Manele Golf Course. To commemorate this new beginning for Manele Golf Course, young golfers 17 and under will play for free after noon when accompanied by a paying adult.
