Aloha Friday Photo: Crashing Waimea Bay

Mahalo to Matt Siltala

of Arizona for sharing today’s beautiful Aloha Friday Photo. Matt took this photo last February when the monster waves pound on Oahu’s North Shore.  Here’s how he described getting this shot.

I took this picture at Waimea Bay, where we played one day as we ventured to Teds Bakery.  I was amazed at how powerful the waves were and how hard it was walking through the sand to even get out of it.

From Matt’s photo, you can really tell that the waves were strong based on the height of the wave crashing onto the lava rock shoreline. It must have been an awesome sight to admire from a safe distance.
