Today’s photo may not seem like much at first glance, but the story behind it adds so much life and interest to it.
Remember Matt and Cari from yesterday’s Maui wowie post? Cari kindly shared this photo along with this background on why she cherishes it.
We had been traveling, I was hot and sticky, I just wanted to RELAX in a beautiful setting…we were checking in, I turned around, and this is what I saw. I was, literally, steps away from Paradise (there’s a staircase you can’t see in the picture). It’s the view from the lobby of the pool and ocean. You don’t need to use it, of course, but it felt like what Heaven might be. You check in with St. Peter, and he gestures for you to look over your shoulder, and that’s what you see!

Oh yes!.. for us it was first time we were served a drink in a pineapple sitting at a restaurant right on the beach in Waikiki, heaven!
For us, it was the first time we checked into the Sheraton on Maui and went out onto our lanai to see the ocean (http://www.kaanapalidreamin.com/blog/2009/05/sunday-photo-my-first-maui-photo.html).
I still remember that feeling, like we couldn't believe we were actually seeing this gorgeous ocean view and so far away from any of our cares back home. Oh, and almost forgetting that the guy from the hotel that escorted us to our room was still there. :)
