Fia Fia Show in Ko Olina provides all the things you expect with a luau – sunset oceanview, a (shell) lei greeting, tropical drinks, cultural demonstrations, tasty traditional dinner followed by colorful Polynesian dance and music. Yes, Fia Fia offers all those features, but what sets it apart is the master of ceremonies, Chief Sielu Avea. Wow, is that guy good! He’s warm, engaging, witty and abundantly talented.
How much did we enjoy Chief Avea? Well, we very rarely ever purchase the luau shots the event photographer snaps upon arrival, but we purchased our photo with Chief Avea.
The Polynesian show ends on fire with excellent Samoan fireknife dancing. I counted seven different fireknife dancers – that’s a lot, especially for a more smaller show.

Fia Fia is offered every Tuesday evening. Seating begins at 4:30pm. If you want a seat close to the stage, I recommend you arrive then. Before dinner begins at 5:30pm, you have the opportunity to learn about Polynesian crafts like weaving, fire starting, and the imu (underground oven). The Polynesian show begins at 7pm. We both thought the whole evening was very well done.

It's difficult to explain, but the chief really made the show. At the end, the performers stood at the exit to say thanks and goodbye. I hugged the chief. He's pretty special. :)
I'd say that the Chief was half the reason why the show stands out from other luaus. He's very funny and very engaging.
The Samoan theme is also a great reason to see it--especially the awesome fire knife finale!
So got to go to see the Chief!? :>) I know what you mean tho! Some people/performers really make the whole show even tho it is an ensemble cast. I have heard people say that about a performer ( hope that is the right term!) at PCC and the man quit and works on the windward side doing a tour of the mac nut farm. People rave about him and say that he makes the whole tour and don't bother going if he's not there etc. There are just people out there who have "it". :>)
Actually, the man from the nut farm and the chief from the luau are one and the same. :)
