Though Hawaii became a state in 1959, it wasn’t until July 4, 1960 that the new flag with all 50 stars flew for the first time throughout the country.

Sheila I thought since you posted the subject of the flag you might like to read the story behind it from the Hawaiians perspective and what we tell the visitors at the museum when they look at this quilt.
