Airfare Sales to Hawaii on American and Delta

Itching for a vacation to paradise but too scared to look at airfare?  There’s really nothing to be afraid of at all!  In recent days, American and Delta have promoted airfare sales to Hawaii.  Here’s the low down:

American Airlines Sale To/From Hawaii:
Fares as low as $614 round trip for travel from August 19 through November 19, 2008.  The best airfares are not necessarily from the West Coast.  For example, you’ll find Charlotte, NC to Kona for $614.  Tickets must be purchased at AA.com 21 days prior to departure or within 1 day of making reservations, whichever comes first.  You must travel on Sunday through Friday.  See other details and restrictions here.

Delta Airlines Sale To/From Oahu, Kauai, Big Island:
Fares are as low as $558 round trip not including taxes and fees.  You must book 21 days in advance and stay over a Saturday night, but you can’t travel in Saturdays.  You must book by August 22, 2008.  For more information, see this link

Happy travels!

  • Sheila, those fares seem really reasonable given the distance. I've been checking for a Hawaii trip mid November from the West Coast. The cheapest flight I have found to Oahu is $453 round trip, Kona is $558. We have recently "rediscovered" the Big Island and want to explore more there, so that makes the flight a little more expensive. Many people here are now choosing Mexico over Hawaii, opting for the all inclusive resorts. I hear from those in the travel community here that the resorts in Mexico are great, but we will continue to pay the price for Hawaii as long as we can:-)

  • Hi Jan - "Rediscovering" the Big Island is a wonderful thing. More and more, I'm hearing people say how the Big Island is their favorite.

Wow...Mexico over Hawaii? Oh my goodness! I'd never in a million years choose Mexico over Hawaii. I've been to Cozumel and Cancun. In Cancun I stayed in a 4 or 5 star all inclusive. Our guaranteed "ocean view" was of a chain link fence by a dirt road. If you got on the balcony and squinted, you could see the ocean about 500 yards away. As a "souvenir", my husband and I brought home some sort of digestive system bug. Ugg...never again!

That's an interesting trend. Thanks for sharing that.

  • Sheila, thanks for sharing your Mexico experience. This gives me ammunition for convincing my husband to say "NO" when invited to join friends in Mexico.

We've lived in Hawaii and think that no place compares with the Islands. Sometimes I question whether we should be more adventurous and experience other places, but we never tire of Hawaii and can always discover something new there. Obviously, you agree!

  • Jan - I really do agree. I've been fortunate enough to have travel to French Polynesia, the Caribbean, Europe, Australia, and some in Africa. Though I've enjoyed my travels to those places, it's Hawaii that keeps calling me back.

You are right, there is always something new to discover in Hawaii. Each time I visit, I leave with a new to-do list for next time around.

Sounds like we're two peas in a pod when it comes to Hawaii. :-)
