When you are flying on an inter-island flight, try if you can to get a window seat, avoiding the views of the wing of course. There’s a good chance you’ll get a nice view and neat perspective of the islands from the air. I’ve always had better luck with the views when I’ve flown on the side of the plane with the A and B seats. Here are a few points to notice about the islands from your window seat:

Let's hope that Hawaiian Airlines doesn't read this post and follow US Airways lead by charging extra for a "seat with a view." ;-)

Jim- yeah they're starting to charge for "coach choice" seats that are window and aisle seats in the first several rows of coach.
Re: talking in person. :-) We are such nerds, aren't we? We have separate offices in the same place and still we use Google Talk to send instant messages. Sad, but true. :-)

If you're going from HNL to Hilo, sit on the DEF side. You'll get a great view of the coast line!
