Yes, it’s true. The temperature on Hawaii’s Big Island registered only 38 degrees Fahrenheit early Sunday morning. With wind speeds of up to 25 mph it felt like 29 degrees. Actually,you really shouldn’t be surprised at this “news
” as this frigid temperature reading came from an elevation of 13,824 feet near the summit of Mauna Kea and is not that unusual.If you are planning a trip to the Big Island, don’t be alarmed. If you stay in the more popular resort areas near Hilo or Kona, you should enjoy very pleasant weather, with the average lows being no cooler than the low 60s.
