20,000 Seahorses by the Sea!

Marine science writer, Susan Scott, has written about her experience at the Ocean Rider seahorse farm in Kona.  Here’s an excerpt that is sure to make you say, “aw”.

this was an extraordinary encounter — particularly when one of those sweet little sea horses curled its tail around my finger, and then, comfortable on a human hand, appeared to doze off.

At the risk of sounding redundant, I’m facinated by this farm.  And, honestly, where else are you going to be able to shake hands with a pregnant male?  If you are going, you need to make a reservation first (808-329-6840).  You can also purchase tickets online.

So, what did Susan Scott conclude of her visit?

I loved my visit to the sea horse farm, especially since it contributed to the conservation of these remarkable animals.

I know that I’ll be stopping in on Ocean Rider on my next visit to the Big Island.
