Many resort changes happening on Maui

In the Kapulua area, the Kapulua Bay Hotel had already closed down last spring and has been demolished. Luxury homes and villas are being built in its place. In July, the Ritz Carlton hotel is due to close down for renovations and reopen before Christmas.

Suites and villas are popping up in Kaanapali. The first phase of Westin Kaanapali Ocean Villas North is nearing completion. The Sheraton Maui Resort has created Ohana Suites that are ideal for families. Rooms include a mini kitchen, Murphy beds, living areas and large closets. The Marriott Maui Ocean Club is building two and three bedroom villas.

In the Wailea area, he Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort will close June 14 . The hotel will be torn down to make way for a swank St. Regis resort property.
